Stephanie Kasten, a language teacher at The Springside School, uses technology in her classroom because she feels that using computers makes students persevere to create quality work. She notes, "Technology really makes language come alive in so many more ways as audiences become much larger than the classroom."
Recently, Kasten tested herself and her ideas as her French 5 students created podcasts on works of art from the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Was the three-month, multi-dimensional project worth it? Here's a hint from one of her students, '06 senior David DiDonato: "I really was never into art that much, but this opened my eyes. The biggest thing I learned was an appreciation for art, especially Impressionism. And my French soared!"
